Join us at The Lloyd for the finest boutique luxury in Stamford, Connecticut, and embrace the spirit of winter, Fairfield County-style, when you do!
Your wintertime escape with us could consist entirely of cozying up in our chic, well-appointed hotel, and, needless to say, it’d be awesome: rejuvenating in your guest room or suite, savoring our morning coffee and breakfast delights, raising a festive glass in our lobby lounge.
But if by chance you also feel like getting out and about a bit during your Lloyd getaway, you’ll find yourself strategically positioned to experience the best of a Connecticut Gold Coast winter.
Winter Outdoor Recreation With a Lloyd Hotel Launch Pad
While Stamford, being on the front stoop of moderating Long Island Sound, is fairly mild as far as winters go, the city does tend to see a bit of snow during the season—and you don’t have to travel far inland to find more of the white stuff to play around in.
Nothing beats a vigorous afternoon of snowshoeing or cross-country skiing—or, if the snowpack’s on the scarce or nonexistent side of things, winter hiking—along nearby trail systems such as those of the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and Mianus River Park. The latter, a nearly 400-acre preserve in the important Mianus River watershed along the Connecticut-New York border, offers marvelous treks through glacially molded southern New England hardwood forest—glorious to behold in its frosted (or outright drifted) guise.
Ice Skating During Your Lloyd Stay
Whether you’re basically Olympic material or you haven’t taken to the ice in years, you can do worse on a cheery winter’s day than sampling the charms of our local skating rinks. In Stamford’s Mill River Park you’ll find the 9,000-plus-square-foot Steven and Alexandra Cohen Skating Center—bigger, mind you, than the Rockefeller Center rink in New York City. Alongside Cove Island Park on the Long Island Sound shore, meanwhile, Terry Conners Ice Rink’s another great spot to lace up your skates.
Indoor Winter Activities in & Around Stamford
If the weather is on the frigid or blizzardy end of the spectrum, fear not: Besides the snug embrace of our Lloyd hospitality, you’ve got multiple indoor attractions and activities at your disposal as a guest of ours. The Palace Theatre, Bow Tie Cinemas, and the Avon Theatre serve up onstage and onscreen entertainment, while numerous art centers and galleries tempt with both exhibitions and hands-on classes.
Young and old alike, meanwhile, delight in the live critters on display at the Maritime Aquarium just a stone’s throw away in Norwalk. Highlights include the finned, flippered, and furred representatives of our very own Long Island Sound ecosystem.
